1. Organizing Make-up!

    May 20, 2012

Above is a shot of my make-up on my dresser. My make-up itself is organized in a bamboo tray I bought from the Container Store. The limited space in the tray reminds me not to buy so much crap but if I do I have to throw other stuff away.

I’m a pretty organized person. I hate messes, I hate clutter, and I absolutely hate not being able to find something in a hurry. That being said, something needed to be done with my make-up brushes. Lo and behold, Pinterest to the rescue! I don’t really use Pinterest anymore because I’m cool and use Gimmebar but since most of the internet population is on Pinterest, so are most of the awesome ideas.

Here is what I decided to do with my brushes. Cheap, simple, and totally cute.

My materials and how much it cost me:
REKTANGEL Vase from IKEA for $1.99
    – Sweet Rice (we’re Asian, we have rice on hand all. the. time.)

Just pour the rice in the vase and stick the brushes in. Voila! You can fill it with anything (sand, gravel, small pebbles/rocks, etc,.) to match your decor or to find a use for whatever it is you have lying around.

What fun and cute ways of organizing have you come up with? I’d love to know (and see)!

  3. My Green Thumb

    May 7, 2012

It’s no secret that I have an obsession with plants. I just love how pretty they are from the weeds to the most gorgeous of flowers. I wish I owned a house or lived in an apartment so that I could have some gardening space but I’l wait for now. In the mean time I’ve managed to collect (read: purchase) an assortment of plant-related things to satisfy my green thumb needs.

I purchased this little guy from the Farmer’s Market here in LA since it was so pretty. It’s going to keep my other terrarium company. Unfortunately, Jay has managed to accidentally knock it over when I place it down on the coffee table temporarily. The little cactus has moved but I think I re-adjusted him alright …sighs

Fab.com has Simple Garden products on sale and I couldn’t resist! I also had $10 in credit so I only had to pay shipping for these cute little guys. I figured they are small and cute enough to put in the kitchen on the window sill. The kit comes with the seeds, the pots, AND the soil! Check them out: Simple Garden sale on Fab.com.

My last purchase is a little live plant necklace from Gem Sprouts. I bought the Echeveria Rosette necklace from Fab.com (do you see a trend here?). It’s so cute and small and the best part is when it outgrows it’s little capsule you can take it out and plant it :)

  5. Finally, an update!

    April 9, 2012

Urgh, this is the third time I’ve sat here and tried to finish a post. It’s pretty hard for me with a Dachshund with an ear infection and having a bajillion things to finish. I’m exaggerating. I’m just lazy. Though, the part about the Dachshund with an ear infection is true. Poor little guy.

So, what have I been up to? I know. I really need to start updating again but life has been crazy busy. First, I left my job at Titan (I was there about … 2 months) and I have been with Sojo Studios for about three now! They’re an amazing social gaming company that works with charities to help benefit them. The office is about 20 minutes away but the flexibility and the awesome people (who happen to be ex-Meteorites) make up for it. I’m pretty content with that aspect of my life. I was thinking of moving up north towards SF but the finances and timing didn’t fall into place.

I’ve been illustrating up a storm and trying to finish what I’ve started. It’s so hard since I’m always being pulled away to do something else. My cousin is having a baby so I started illustrations for her nursery. Check these bad boys out:

She has a jungle/animal theme going on for the nursery. It’s a boy. That’s all I know. I still have a lion to finish and I’ll probably expand. I want to maybe have a little give-away for a set of cards or something.

Other than that I’m taking on commissioned work and trying to work on my own little projects. Sometimes I wish life had a pause button and I can just sit around and breathe. I mean, literally, I would just sit there and breathe. Ahhhhhhhhh.

Oh, Facebook bought Instagram. What’s up with that?

  7. Untitled Frustration

    March 5, 2012

    And I’m tired
This circle that we’re going in
    I scream
    you barely listen
    I scream again
    you barely listen harder
    Useless really
    What does it matter anyway
    you’ve already doomed me

I’m being a bit emo but I honestly can’t take it anymore.

  9. My new Fluval Chi!

    February 2, 2012

I am so excited! I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it before but I love gardening. I love everything about it but we don’t have any space to garden here. When I first bought my goldfish’s fish tank I looked into live aquatic plants and I was instantly hooked. I can bring my love of gardening and plants to a whole new level! Not only that but I could provide Naruto and Sasuke (my two fancy goldfish) a more natural habitat and cleaner water.

If you own fish you should definitely look into live aquatic plants. It’s much safer for your water friends and they’ll appreciate it.

So, long story short is that I started out with a 1.5gal and one little Java Fern to a 10gal with a few plants. I then wanted to start a shrimp tank after lurking on the Planted Tank forums for a while. I found this amazing Fluval Chi 5gal from someone on Craigslist for only $35! I was housing my Red Cherry Shrimps (RCS) in the 1.5gal as a temporary thing and moved them last night. Success! Here are some pictures of the Chi and my specs:
